Irish Actress Fiona Shaw is Headed to Bon Temps

Irish thespian and director Fiona Shaw is the latest actress to head to Bon Temps for the next season of True Blood. The theater veteran, who’s most well-known for playing Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies, will play Marnie, “a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch." Shaw, who was involved with actress Saffron Burrows for several years, is currently starring in Henrik Ibsen’s John Gabriel Borkman with Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan at Dublin’s Abbey Theater.

Irish thespian and director Fiona Shaw is the latest actress to head to Bon Temps for the next season of True Blood. The theater veteran, who’s most well-known for playing Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies, will play Marnie, “a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch,” according to Deadline.

The character was originally created for a younger actress, but is now being tweaked to accommodate the fabulous Ms. Shaw, 52.

Shaw, who was involved with actress Saffron Burrows for several years, is currently starring in Henrik Ibsen’s John Gabriel Borkman with Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan at Dublin’s Abbey Theater, according to Deadline.

The acclaimed actress has appeared on stage in Hedda Gabler, Electra, Happy Days, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie and in Tony Kushner’s production of Mother Courage and Her Children, among others. She has also appeared on film in My Left Foot, Jane Eyre and The Black Dahlia.
