Original 'Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' Noomi Rapace Supports American 'Girl' Rooney Mara

Noomi Rapace, who plays the bisexual hacker and badass Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish versions of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, doesn't think she is the only woman who can the part of the hardcore hacker and overall badass. The Social Network star, Rooney Mara, is slated to bring Lisbeth Salander to life in the American version of the crime series.

Noomi Rapace, who plays Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish versions of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, is generous about not thinking she is the only woman who can nail the part of the hardcore hacker and overall badass.

The Social Network star, Rooney Mara, is slated to bring Lisbeth Salander to life in the American version of the crime series and Rapace, who won the Swedish equivalent to the Oscar for her Lisbeth said of Mara, "I don't think I know more about Lisbeth than she does," Rapace told E! at the Hollywood Awards earlier this week,"She has to find her Lisbeth inside of her own self, make her own personal Lisbeth."

That said, Mara does have some pretty big black leather boots to fill. Mara already looks drastically different as she is starting her work in the role, as reported by E! News. Rapace went through the same thing to creat a believable characte.  "I got seven piercings," she said. "I lost weight. I went for kickboxing and Thai boxing four days a week for seven months."

Rapace is in London right now shooting Sherlock Holmes 2 opposite Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. While it is her first film in English, the role also requires another language: "I'm learning to speak some Romani."
