Ellen DeGeneres has a new achievement to add to her resume... comic book heroine. Her life story is told in a new "Female Force" comic book from Bluewater Productions. joining others in the series about some powerful and well-known women including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Princess Diana and Oprah Winfrey.

The comic book mentions DeGeneres' love of animals. Bluewater  provided free space for the Human Society of the United States to place ads to tell the organization's story and will donate 30 percent of the comic's sales to the organization.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show and its host have been vocal promoters of animal protection. The show received a Humane Society Genesis Award March 20, given to news and entertainment media for producing work that raises public awareness of animal issues.

The Genesis Awards recognize writers, producers, directors and others in news and entertainment who use their talents to raise awareness of the plight and suffering of animals. The 24th Annual Genesis Awards airs on Animal Planet on April 24 and 25.

In 2009, DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi were honored as joint recipients of The HSUS Wyler Award, given to public figures who have made news on behalf of animals.

Bluewater Productions, which specializes in publishing and production of comic books and graphic novels, has a diverse library of comic books including classic myths, science fiction, superheroes and Hollywood legends. They recently broke into biography comics with their Fame, Female Force and Political Power series.

"Female Force" comics can be found at comic book stores, Barnes & Noble, Borders and other book stores, or online.
