Shawn Mendes Claps Back (Again) at Comments About His Sexuality

Once again, it looks like our beloved Canadian-heartthrob-turned-Calvin-Klein-thirst-trap Shawn Mendes is clapping back at critics over mass speculation about his sexuality.

The 20-year-old singer-songwriter says that fan comments and rumors about his sexual orientation hurts "so many other people" who are going through their own personal struggles with sexuality and identity.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, the "Stiches" singer said that he still gets "riled up" over these kinds of rumours, and even in the aftermath of several public statements over the past couple of years, Mendes still can't seem to shake his fans' sleuthing.

"For me it’s hurtful," says Mendes. "I get mad when people assume things about me because I imagine the people who don’t have the support system I have and how that must affect them."

He continued:

"That was why I was so angry, and you can see I still get riled up, because I don’t think people understand that when you come at me about something that’s stupid you hurt so many other people. They might not be speaking, but they’re listening."

This isn't the first time Shawn has had to address this (he already acknowledged rumors of him being gay back in 2016 and then had to reiterate that he is straight in a November 2018 interview with Rolling Stone), but hopefully people will listen this time and leave him alone!
