Marvel, don't miss your shot.

As wonderful as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, we all know one thing they still lack are canonically queer superheroes.

It’s true that that’s set to change soon, with Valkyrie officially being bisexual in the upcoming Thor movie, and The Eternals promising a married gay superhero. But while having two queer heroes is a (very belated) start, when you’ve got a whole universe of them, it’s not quite enough.

Fortunately for Marvel, now Kristen Stewart wants to throw her hat in the ring to step up and play a new gay hero.

KStew gave an interview to Harper’s Bazaar recently in which she recounted being told “If you just like do yourself a favour, and don’t go out holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie.”

In a follow up conversation with Variety while promoting her upcoming film Seberg at TIFF, Stewart clarified that she hadn’t been told that about Marvel specifically, but just meant that she was told she wouldn’t be getting anymore big franchises if she was public about dating women.

“I’m sure [Marvel] would love to hire the gay kids to be superheroes,” she joked.

And when asked what kind of superhero she’d want to be if she was cast, naturally she immediately responded: “A gay one!”

Her Seberg co-star and Marvel’s own Falcon/soon-to-be Captain America, Anthony Mackie, jumped into the conversation, suggesting Stewart play “the gay female Falcon Captain America.”

So here for it.

The actress has largely stayed away from big franchises since the hugely successful Twilight series, though she’s set to star in the Elizabeth Banks-directed Charlie’s Angels reboot later this year.

And hopefully the film’s action sequences (and KStew’s already proven box office pull) will convince Marvel that bringing her into the MCU as an unapologetically gay superhero would be a perfect next step in queering up their films.

If it doesn't? DCU, here's your chance. Snatch her up!
