Say hello to Sara Quin’s new baby!

One half of everyone’s favorite lesbian music twins, Tegan and Sara, shared a glimpse of her infant on Instagram this week, much to fans’ surprise.

“My #crybaby,” she wrote, referencing their upcoming 10th studio album, Crybaby

Up until this unexpected announcement, Tegan and Sara’s joint Instagram had largely been filled with promo gearing up for their new album and tour, which kicks off this fall.

Sara didn’t share any further details about her and her partner’s first child, including a name or birthday, but that didn’t stop fans and friends alike from offering up their congratulations on the exciting new addition to the family.

New aunt Tegan has also been joking about the way this announcement is being handled in the press, calling out Billboard for using a photo of her instead of her sister.

“My favourite part of this article about Sara announcing she has a new baby on IG is that they used a photo of me performing at the top of it,” she wrote. “So Sara has a baby, whatever. I have a microphone. Take that Sara.”

Launching an album called Crybaby with an actual baby is a pretty memorable move, especially as such a complete surprise!

The album itself will be dropping on October 21.
