August Alsina Might Have Just Come Out On The Surreal Life
Has Jada Pinkett Smith’s ex found a new entanglement? Here's why we're not so sure.
Rapper August Alsina, who previously and famously was in an “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett Smith, seemingly has a very special new love in his life. Alsina is currently starring in the reboot of The Surreal Life, where the artist opened up about finding “a love that feels limitless,” leading many to believe that he had just come out as LGBTQ+.

“And then what do you know? Love showed up, but in a new way,” Alsina continued. “I want to share that and really honor the person that I love and that loves me back, teaching me so much about love and healing. I want to do that in front of the world, because it defies all the constructs that one would say love is supposed to be or love should look like.”
Alsina then waves to someone off-camera to come over and the man he is describing comes and sits next to him and they embrace. Alisina tells him he loves him. It’s an incredibly sweet moment, and from all appearances is Alsina introducing his new partner.
Here’s where it gets complicated. Alsina has yet to name the man in question on the show, but social media sleuths have seemingly found him on the rapper’s social media. They have identified Alsina’s “limitless love” as fellow rapper Zu, who may actually also be Alsina’s brother. The two have collaborated on music together in the past and even sent a joint birthday wish to their “MF Mama” Sheila.
While it could be a case where Alsina calls Zu his brother as a term of endearment for a very close friend and the relationship evolved, it could also just be a case of VH1 queerbaiting via editing for a ratings stunt. Sigh.
As of this writing, neither Alsina nor Zu has commented on the speculation about the rappers’ sexuality and relationship, so audiences will have to wait and see.
