It might be daunting at first, but if you put yourself out there and seek out a community of like-minded friends, it is the most rewarding experience you can have as a young, LGBT person. It will also ground you in yourself and your strengths. Go be social, you little butterfly!
2. Volunteer and get active.
There is always room for activism, especially now. Be loud, be present, be persistant. From providing food and aid to homeless LGBT youth, housing for elders, or political protest, you matter and can play a part in the fight.
3. Try your hand at dating.
You spent time in the closet afraid of your sexuality. Now that your out and proud, explore that sexuality in all of its beauty. There are no rules to how you should love, so why not try everything that speaks to you? You can always find someone who will love you, and who is worthy of your love in return.
4. Create art inspired by your newly open life.
Coming out is a great tap for creative inspiration. Use your past experiences to express your artistic side!
5. Do new things/things you were afraid of doing.
Don't be afraid of the things you used to be afraid of. Make a list of all the experiences you want to try now that you are out. Saying yes makes a world of difference to your happiness.
6. Go on a gay bar crawl.
Grab your friends and hit the town in your Sunday best! Dance with that sexy cutie from across the room, throw back a couple drinks, and party.
7. Spend time with your family to educate them on all things LGBT.
You might not want to, but it's so important to spend time with your family and any other straight individuals in your life so that you can help show them who queer people really are. If you take the time to educate and stand up for LGBTs everywhere, minds will change.
8. Brush up on your LGBT history.
From Stonewall to Marriage Equality, there is a world of discovery out there for you. Knowing where you come from, and what your people have gone through and overcome, makes a well-rounded person. Hit the books, kid!
9. Travel this big, gay world.
Go make some adventures out there. The world is big and ready to embrace you!
10. Take pride in your body and in your style.
Love yourself, your body, your soul, your personality, and all that makes you you. If you don't like something, change it. Tell people who you are in colorful capital letters.
