It's a gay, gay world.

Danny Tetley wowed audiences on The X Factor UK with his performance of "And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going" from Dreamgirls, but he got his own "wow" moment when he came out to his father.

Tetley told The Sun he and his dad wound up at a gay bar while on vacation in Los Angeles in 2001 and "started talking about the men in there who were handsome." Afterwards, at their hotel, he says they finally had an honest conversation—and wound up both coming out to each other!

"It must have been tough for my dad growing up in the era he did and not being able to be himself," Tetley says of his father, who separated from the singer’s mother when he was six.

But the conversation clearly did Dad some good: he married a man in 2016, and of course Danny was there to sing at the wedding.

"It was quite a strange moment," Tetley points out. "There aren’t many fathers and sons who are gay."

Still, it’s the kind of coming out experience many people could only dream of—digging up the courage to come out to someone close to you, only to discover they’ve been waiting to do the same thing! What a lovely version of the world that would be. But in the meantime, we're happy for Danny that he got to use his coming out experience to grow closer to his father.

And if you need more content in your life about whole families coming out? Oh yeah, they did that on TNT’s Claws last season.
