Ezra Miller has been on an epic press tour these past few weeks promoting his latest film Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and in a recent interview with Playboy, the openly queer actor spoke quite candidly about the polyamorous approach he takes when it comes to the world of sex and dating.

Miller went on the record about the matters of the heart, telling Playboy he finds more meaningful and romantic connections with a group of partners known as a "polycule" (a portmanteau of "polyamory" and "molecule") as opposed to that of traditional monogamy.

"I’m trying to find queer beings who understand me as a queer being off the bat, who I make almost a familial connection with, and I feel like I’m married to them 25 lifetimes ago from the moment we meet," he said. "And then they are in the squad—the polycule. And I know they’re going to love everyone else in the polycule because we’re in the polycule, and we love each other so much."

In the interview, Miller also touched on his own past survivals, including that of abuse, and how these past traumas have ultimately shaped his views on dating, as well as sex—which heavily influenced his role in 2012's The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

"There was a close friend who I had a sexual relationship with who really, really turned on me in a violent way. So that Perks story was pretty close to home for me."

He continued:

"I’ve been attacked repeatedly in my life—I’ve been attacked by fucking bigots, man. Of course I’ve been in audition situations where sexuality was totally being leveraged. It’s really important to acknowledge the diversity of voices who have experienced this shit, and all genders, all capacities, all types of people. Everyone is victim to it. Everyone is a survivor of it."

Miller also spoke about the nature of the queer identity, as well as sexualities, during an interview with the UK's Attitude Magazine last week, talking about his Fantastic Beasts character Credence's "vital" metaphor for the LGBT experience. No doubt, this conversation was gateway for the more in-depth discussion on "polycule" relationships.
