Yesterday Was the Opening Night of Katy Perry’s Las Vegas Residency ‘Play'

Last night, pop icon Katy Perry kicked off her new residency to a sold-out crowd at the Resorts World Theatre!
Titled PLAY, Perry calls the show "the kookiest, most camp show I've ever put together." It features her hit songs “Waking up in Vegas,” “Dark Horse,” “California Gurls,” “Roar,” and “Firework,” as well as gay favorites "Swish Swish" and "Walking on Air," and even her new song "When I'm Gone."
"It's just gonna be a feast for both the ears and the eyes," she recently told Out. "It is like the most laughter I've had in a rehearsal setting ever in my life. My co-creators and collaborators and the dancers and the band, everybody's just like, 'This is the kookiest idea.'"

In the show, Perry plays a doll who gets "chosen by a little boy and get run through it. I mean, he just (whistles) demolishes me." She's then "found by a little girl, but meanwhile, I am in all these different setups that are like...I have like a 30-foot toilet that's 10 times my size. I pop out of it. I have a bedroom scene, a bathroom scene, an outdoor scene where I maybe take some mushrooms. One of the sets is in a trashcan and there's trash all around me."
PLAY runs through March 19, 2022. For more information and to get tickets, visit Resort World's official website.
