Welcome to the second episode of Ask Dr. Jack, produced by Cathy DeBuono. Some of you may recall that Cathy introduced Dr. Jack in her What's Your Problem? vlog several weeks ago. Dr. Jack allows us to tag along in the surgery room while she sutures Lucy's laceration. Now that we have a doctor in the family, it's ok to ask her your pet questions!

Dr. Jack has been featured on LOGO'Curl Girls and The Animal Planet's Untamed & Uncut. Now she brings her veterinary expertise to SheWired. So go ahead, Ask Dr. Jack.

Dr. Jack grew up surrounded by pets, from cats and birds to lizards and mice. As a result, she knew from a young age she wanted to be a veterinarian. She completed her undergraduate training at Mount Holyoke College in Western Massachusetts. She then obtained her degree in veterinary medicine from the Ohio State University and completed an internship in avian and exotic medicine and surgery the following year. Once she completed her training she moved back to her home state of California and began working at an animal hospital in Santa Monica.

In her seven years at the animal hospital, it has been her great pleasure to serve a large and devoted patient base, where all species are represented! She attends various veterinary conferences to stay on top of all medical advances. In addition to canine and feline conferences, she routinely attends conferences in avian, small mammal (rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rodents), and reptile medicine. Dr. Jack has also taken many specialty courses such as fish anesthesia and surgery, rigid endoscopy, bird fracture repair, rabbit and rodent dentistry, emergency medicine of exotics and several ultrasound labs in cats, dogs, ferrets and rabbits. She is currently pursuing board certification in Exotic Companion Animal Practice.

Dr Jack resides in Venice and enjoys spending time with her dog Maggie and three cats, one of which has only three legs. Don't tell him though, he has no idea!  She also enjoys surfing, rollerblading and riding her motorcycle.
