Anna Wintour, Editor-In-Chief of Vogue magazine, is the latest personality to take a stance for marriage equality, recording a video for the Human Rights Campaign’s “New Yorkers for Marriage Equality” initiative.
“As far as I’m concerned, having the right to say ‘I do’ is as fundamental as the right to vote,” Wintour says. “The time is now, please join me in supporting marriage equality for all New Yorkers.”
Brian Ellner, the HRC’s senior New York strategist, says Wintour “knows the difference between a passing fad and an enduring brand, Equality is part of the New York brand,” Women’s Wear Daily reports.
Others who have recently contributed to the initiative include Christopher Meloni, of Law and Order SVU, hockey star Sean Avery, Lucy Liu and Larry King.
