During a time when Taylor Swift is being pushed to re-record her entire past discography due to issues related to the ownership of her masters, Mariah Carey revealed that she happens to now own all of her old master recordings.

While talking about an upcoming TV series based on her life, Carey casually spilled the tea that she happens to own all the masters to her entire discography – which is extremely rare even for very well-established musicians.

“I’m here to do anything we need to do. I own all my old masters,” the queen of Christmas told USA Today.

She then talked about the behind-the-scenes process of making a TV show about her life and finding the right person to play her. “I don’t think it’s about ‘cast the girl who sings the Mariah Carey style,’ whatever that is. It’s about casting a great actress with a somewhat similar look and just making sure the acting is there. Because we have the music – they can sing along to it.”

Carey’s latest studio album, Caution, was released in 2018 and featured songs like “With You,” “A No No,” and “GTFO.” In 2020, she released the book The Meaning of Mariah Carey and starred in Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special for Apple TV+.

Heading into the 2022 holiday season, it’s only a matter of time until Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is back as a chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100.

Lambs, rejoice! The queen of Christmas is ready to reign supreme once again.
