The story is as captivating as the scene itself.

SPOILERS for season two of Heartstopper below.

Swifties were floored to hear a song from evermore in the latest season of Heartstopper, but it turns out the story of how it got there is even better.

The last episode of the season includes a scene between Tara Jones (Corrina Brown) and Darcy Olsson (Kizzy Edgell), during which they confess their love for one another. And the music to set the scene is none other than Taylor Swift’s “seven.”

While fans who believe Swift is secretly sapphic herself look for clues everywhere, in most scenarios, music simply playing in a TV scene wouldn’t mean much. But according to the show’s music supervisor, Matt Biffa, they specifically had the musician’s blessing for this particular inclusion.

Responding to a joke tweet from a fan that claimed Heartstopper must have the “big bucks” now since they were able to snag one of Swift’s songs, Biffa wrote, “No, she just thought the scene was beautiful and we were then able to make it work.”

The news sent a certain segment of Swifties into a frenzy—and it’s easy to see why.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time Swift has specifically okayed a song from evermore to accompany queer ladies on TV. Dickinson showrunner Alena Smith had a similar story when they wanted to include “ivy” in the episode of the show where Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) and Sue (Ella Hunt) have sex.

It was initially intended for the actual sex scene, but they wound up bumping it to the credits right after. However, Swift worked with them and approved the original intent.

“Devoe Yates, our music supervisor, went out and saw if he could get [the song] and we were lucky that Taylor said yes,” Smith previously told The Hollywood Reporter.

The takeaway here seems to be that if the folks at Yellowjackets want to shoot their shot at getting a Swift song for next season, it sounds like there’s a good chance it will all work out.
