WATCH: Lesbian Proposal Covers Russell Brand's 'Inside of You'

Ali Scher just popped the question to her girlfriend of nine years, Olivia Choate. But Scher got creative with the proposal, taking a page from an unexpected source — Russell Brand.

Scher filmed a cover of Brand's song "Inside of You," featured in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The raunchy song takes on an even more enjoyable tone when it's repurposed for lesbian love, and Scher clearly went all-out in filming the video, even getting Choate to appear in a few shots — all without spoiling the surprise of why, exactly, she was filming this video. On Tuesday, Scher used a bold-faced lie to get her future wife into a private screening of the music video. 

Here's how Scher pulled it off:

"I lied and told Olivia I was directing a commercial for a new perfume called 'Royal Essence.' (I've done a few commercials lately, so she bought it.) For the actual shoot days, I'd have her call-time halfway through the day, giving me time to shoot my portion, change clothing, and remove hair and makeup before she arrived. I then told her that my short film won an award at the fictitious Burbank Film Awards... which just happened to be at our very favorite movie theater: the Burbank AMC 6. We arrived at the theater and there were signs for the 1st Annual Burbank Film Award ceremony on every wall. We entered the actual theater and found that we were the only ones there. I somehow got her to sit down, the lights immediately dimmed, and the music video began. I don't have the best voice, but Liv has always enjoyed it, so I did it for her! She sobbed through the entire thing. As soon as it ended, the lights came up and I popped the question. She said yes!"

The Los Angeles-based couple don't have a wedding date planned yet, but are thinking about aiming for fall 2013. Congratulations to Ali and Olivia!
