UPDATE: According to an exclusive from The Wrap, previous reports of singer-songwriter Harry Styles signing on to play the role of Prince Eric in Disney's upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid from various news outlets (including PRIDE) turned out to be false.
The misinformation was based on now-deleted tweets from AMC and Regal cinemas. Reps for Harry said he declined the project after being offered the role.

Following the controversial announcement that grown-ish star Halle Bailey would be our next Ariel, Styles is the latest celeb cast in the film. Melissa McCarthy is also in talks to play Ursula as well as Awkwafina playing Scuttle and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder.
While there are no solos for Prince Eric in the original 1989 film, fans hope that casting Styles means the film will adapt songs from the 2000s musical.
