Although we know homophobia is by no means inherent, for some reason rap doesn't always appear to be an LGBT-friendly genre, especially when you consider its hypermasculinity. Nicki Minaj
Queen Nicki is arguably one of the biggest names in popular music today, and with that much fame comes a lot of responisbility. Fortunately, Nicki has always been a huge advocate for the LGBT community (who make up a HUGE portion of her fanbase). In a 2010 interview with MTV News, she stood up for bullied queer youth and one of her first headlining gigs during the early stages of her career was as a headliner for Atlanta's Black Gay Pride festival in 2010.
