Make Christmas Gay Again? Sam Sparro Drops Jazzy Holiday Album

Blue in Christmas is out everywhere now!
Grammy-nominated artist, Sam Sparro, released his 4-track holiday EP, Christmas in Blue.
The album features jazzy takes on some Christmas classics, like Wham's 'Last Christmas' and ‘Christmas Time is Here’ from A Charlie Brown Christmas. "It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs because it’s got this sadness to it, and there’s a bit of melancholy for me around that time of year," the openly gay Aussie toldNewNowNext. "All the song selections, like the title, have a blue feeling."
'Christmas in Your Heart' is the only original song on the album, and its hopeful overtones hide Sparro's mixed emotions he felt going home for the holidays. "There's been so much suffering and hard times for a lot of people - I wanted to write about trying to get into the spirit of things in spite of everything that's going on." He added, "[It's] about trying to find that feeling of Christmas you had as a child among lot of conflict. We’re all feeling a bit exhausted and rundown from the bullshit."
Sparro, recently engaged, plans on spending the upcoming holidays with his fiancee. And if he could get a celebrity to cover his song? "Is it too ambitious if I say Beyoncé? [Laughs] I feel like Beyoncé can always really slay a ballad moment when she wants to. I’m a big fan of Kelly Clarkson’s voice, too."
