Police investigating the dissapearance and death of Lisa Lawson, a 40-year-old lesbian who went missing from Henry County, Ga., since November 19, and found dead in her car on December 5, are still not releasing details about the cause of death.
But Lawson's girlfriend Michelle Alexander, who launched an extensive social media campaign to search for Lisa after she disappeared on November 19, did offer a brief update to a Facebook page dedicated to finding the woman.
"Good Morning All," wrote Alexander, pictured with Lawson above. "First on behalf of Lisa's Daughter and Mother and the rest of her family we thank all of you for the love and well wishes that you have showered. We all feel it and are so grateful for it. Im sure that all of you can only imagine how difficult this is for all of us.
We have not set a date as of yet. There will also be a seperate community vigil scheduled to allow the community that came together so beautifuly help find Lisa, have their chance to say good bye.
This group is the official place for announcements. If it doesnt come from us, its not true..There is a lot of chatter out there about this... Please respect the family at this time ... Please respect her daughter at this time. Gossip is mean spirited and not in the essence of who Lisa was.."
Project Q Atlanta reports that McDonough County Police have declined to say whether they were investigating the death as a homicide or suicide. Police officials did say the investigation is ongoing and that they would release information as it becomes available.
The Clayton County Police Department issued a press release Tuesday with some details, saying that county detectives discovered Lawson's body inside her car in McDonough, Mich. around 11 p.m. Monday.
According to the Georgia Voice, Lawson and Alexander had been together for about five months, and while Alexander thought Lawson might be suffering from slight depression, Alexander said she couldn't think of a reason her girlfriend would run away. "I've seen her in some really dark places and she never once ran away," Alexander told GAVoice.
