A female student at North Pole High School in Alaska was expelled after accidentally getting caught up in the middle of some other students’ anti-trans protest.
Some boys at the school were reportedly upset that a (male) transgender student took a selfie in the boys’ bathroom, and decided to protest by going to take a selfie in the girls’ bathroom.
There were seven boys in total trying to get into the bathroom, but a female student was in there at the time. When she tried to leave, they reportedly blocked her from doing so.
And she kicked one in the groin.
“My sister was expelled for kneeing a guy in the dick after he was blocking her in the WOMENS bathroom,” the girl’s sister tweeted.
The boys were reportedly disciplined, but the female student was the only one blocked from going to prom and expelled.
“We don’t advocate violence as a means for students to attain safety,” Superintendent Karen Gaborik told the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. “If a student does use force, we have to evaluate that incident.”
However, it seems the majority of people disagree with Gaborik’s stance in the matter, pointing out that seven boys blocking a girl from leave a confined private space is inherently threatening.
Even Alaska state Rep. Tammie Wilson commented on the situation during a news conference.
“If you ever feel threatened for your safety, whatever force you think you have to give, I will stand behind you,” she said.
Wilson plans to bring the matter before the Board of Education.
