Disney theme parks in Tokyo are taking strides to be more inclusive for all gender identities.

On March 18, the Oriental Land Company has updated Tokyo Disneyland's and Tokyo DisneySea's in-park announcements from "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" to "Welcome everyone," WDWNT reports.

"We want all guests to have a fun and comfortable experience at Tokyo Disney Resort," said an Oriental Land Company spokesperson in a statement. "We hope this change will make guests of all gender identities feel more comfortable when they visit our parks. In consideration of these ideals and in light of changing social norms, we decided to make this change."

This change only affects English announcements since Japanese announcements have always used a gender-neutral term. The change also took effect at parades, shows, as well as the Country Bear Theater and the Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents Aloha e Komo Mai.

According to the report, the Oriental Land Company will continue the rollout throughout their parks, and hopefully, the move towards gender inclusivity will soon make its way over to the states.
