The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against famed anti-gay pastor and rabble-rouser Fred Phelps this week. Phelps, the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church had attempted to erect a statue condemning homosexuality and specifically, slain University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, in a government plaza in Kansas.

The statue Phelps constructed read, "Matthew Shepard Entered Hell October 12, 1998, in Defiance of God's Warning 'though shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind; it is abomination.' Leviticus 18:22."

In its ruling, the Supreme Court decided unanimously that government parks are not required to accept each monument donation offered.

Phelps and his family have railed against the homosexuality for decades, most famously for protesting Shepard's funeral.
