Oscar nominated actress and lesbian icon who bared all for her role in The Reader, Kate Winslet has vowed she's done with on-screen nudity.
After fearless nude scenes in films including Titanic, Holy Smoke, Quills, Little Children, Iris and The Reader, Winslet's ready to keep her clothes on, she told Time.
The actress, who nabbed award after award this season from the Golden Globes, to the Screen Actors' Guild to the BAFTA's, is considered a front runner to win Best Actress Sunday, even up against fierce competition from Meryl Streep, Melissa Leo, Angelina Jolie and Anne Hathaway.
Of her portrayal of Hanna, an illiterate former concentration camp guard who engages in an illicit affair with an underage boy, Winslet told Time that the nudity required in the film wasn't the biggest challenge. Although, she said, "I think I won't do it again: a) I can't keep getting away with it, and b) I don't want to become 'that actress who always gets her kit off."
She told Time that she was more concerned with nailing the German accent than with the film's overt nudity.
Since her debut in 1994's Heavenly Creatures, Winslet has garnered a lesbian following, bolstered by her dedication to playing complicated roles involving lesbian or bisexual undertones.
