Southwest Airlines claims that profane language, and not a supposed over-the-top make-out session, was the reason actress and musician Leisha Hailey and Uh Huh Her bandmate Camila Grey were ejected from a flight from El Paso Sunday.
A statement from the airline said, "at least one family" found the profanity offensive and moved to another area of the cabin.
"We do not tolerate discrimination against anyone for any reason," the statement read. "In this situation, their removal was directly and solely related to the escalated conversation that developed onboard the aircraft."
Hailey, who starred on The L Wordfor six seasons, tweeted shortly after the incident that a flight attendant told them the airline was a “family” business and that they had to stop kissing. She later tweeted that they were removed from the flight.
Hailey and Grey released statements through the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation after the news broke on the on-flight flap, and said they were kicked off the plane for "one modest kiss." They claim that they have footage of the incident, but it has not yet been released.
According to Southwest, the company has reached out to extend an offer for a refund.
