Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is pushing for the passage of same-sex marriage legislation next year in Maryland, and has teamed up with Marlanders for Marriage Equality by participating in a series of web videos for the group’s ad campaign, according to the Washington Post.
Marylanders for Marriage Equality released the video on Wednesday, the day after Rawlings-Blake’s inauguration to a full term as mayor.
“Marriage protects families,” she tells viewers. “And couples, regardless of sexual orientation, deserve the same legal protections. It’s only fair. It’s only right.”
Rawlings-Blake’s support of equality for same-sex couples is not new, as last summer she held a new conference outside Baltimore City Hall to announce the launch of Marylanders for Marriage Equality.
