High School Administrator Goes Ballistic Over Pic of Lesbian Couple in Yearbook

Two girls holding hands--yes, holding hands--causes a furor at a Colorado high school. Two students at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. were booted from the yearbook staff after they approved a photo of a lesbian couple innocently holding hands.

Two students at Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. were booted from the yearbook staff after they approved a photo of a lesbian couple innocently holding hands.

“[The advisor] told me in these exact words, 'You either cut the gay couple or I cut the page,'” Rudolpho Tribulio told KRDO-TV. Tribulio and Anna Carmicheal were fired from the yearbook staff after they refused to back down; two other students quit in protest.

The school administration is looking into the matter, though they initially defended the photo being cut, with a spokesperson saying the pic had “too much PDA.”  The school is attempting to remedy the situation by adding a “diversity page” to the yearbook. Read more here.
