Adam Rippon's Interview with His Mom Is the Sweetest Thing Ever

Olympic medalist and America's gay sweetheart Adam Rippon sat down for an intimate chat with his mom this past week, thanks to a new series on Facebook distributed by Reese Witherspoon's media company Hello Sunshine.

The new roundtable format show, entitled Meet My Mom, debuted on Facebook recently for Mother's Day, and each episode consists of an honest chat between a favorite celebrity and their moms.

In this most recent episode, the figure skater and Dancing with the Stars finalist sat down with his mom Kelly and talked about everything from Pyeongchang to Rippon's career.

When subject matters turned to Rippon's sexuality his and coming out process, Mrs. Rippon recounted being fearful of prejudice, not only in the figure skating community, but in America.

"That’s one of the things that we might not have agreed on, right?" she asked. "For one reason: I knew the talk and the prejudice that existed in the sport."

She continued: "Suddenly, now, I knew you were mature enough to say, 'The Olympics is awesome, but if I can’t be who I am at the Olympics, it’s not so awesome.'"
