In light of the recent controversy surrounding JCPenney choosing openly gay Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson, the Los Angeles dance community, family, and friends gathered together to show their love and support by countering hate with dance by performing in front of a JCPenney store. With dance as one of the hallmarks of The Ellen Show, what better way to "Show the LOVE, and Stop the Hate" than doing what Ellen loves most: DANCE!

SheWired recently posted video of a terrific flash mob organized to show support for Ellen DeGeneres and her partnership with JCPenney. Ellen and her show got wind of the flash mob and ran part of the video on The Ellen DeGeneres show Thursday. Here’s Ellen discussing how much she loves the idea of the flash mob set to the sound bite that came straight from the daytime diva herself, “My haters are my motivators!”

An accomplished dancer, professor and first-time filmmaker Erika Randall Beahm was on the verge of delivering two ‘babies’ earlier this month, one, her first child with her husband, and the other, her feature film and pet project Leading Ladies, which was just coming out on DVD via the LGBT-friendly distributor Wolfe Video. A professor of dance at The University of Colorado, Beahm, with her writing partner Jennifer Bechtel and her co-director, her husband Daniel, collaborated on Leading Ladies, a dance film rife with humor and romance in the classical Hollywood vein ala director Vincent Minnelli. That is, if Minnelli had dared direct a dance film that replaced the compulsory heterosexual couple with a lesbian couple who find love on the ballroom dance floor.

Lady GaGa is hosting a New York City dance-a-thon rally on October 3 for the National Equality March. The march takes place October 11th in Washington DC as part of the battle to achieve full equal rights on a national level for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.

Openly bisexual singer/songwriter and top notch performer Lady Gaga has been an advocate for the LGBT community since her first single "Just Dance" pranced along the airwaves in 2008. Although there have been instances with hateful rhetoric present inside and outside of the concerts, the crowd in St. Louis proved more of a threat than originally anticipated. Lady Gaga took some time out of her crazy schedule before hopping onto the stage in her glittery, bandage and bubble-like costumes to warn her LGBT fans of the presence of hateful critics outside of the doors.
