The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star shocked the guests at his birthday with a surprise wedding.
Sometimes I wonder about the theory from the far-right rhetoric-ridden side of the fence equating marriage equality to the end of the world as we all know it and love it. I was all about advocating for equal rights and opportunities for straight couples as well as gay ones before my own engagement, but now, after planning my own same-sex wedding for just about a year’s time, well, I have become an even greater force to be reckoned with on this subject.
Anticipating that gay couples in California will again be able to wed after 5 p.m., Wednesday (barring a stay from the court), the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center is offering a free place for the ceremony.
On Thursday, August 19, the Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza will offer couples everything they need for their ceremony—for free—including a certified officiant, witnesses, flowers, champagne, wedding cake, and digital photos. Couples just need to provide a marriage license.
One Million Moms started a petition for PBS Kids to no longer air Mr. Ratburn's wedding episode.
As the day of our wedding clicked closer and closer (and there was a lot of clicking — we were engaged four and a half years, after all), it was easy to see that I was far more excited about the impending nuptials than my soon-to-be wife. To be fair, I spent the first two and a half years of our relationship with the understanding that she never wanted to marry, which is why I was surprised when she popped the question. I, however, spent my fair share of time envisioning the beautiful dress I would wear and walking down the aisle toward my prince (yeah, my coming out at the age 21 was a surprise to a lot of us, including me).
To infinity and beyond, indeed!
A pair of newlyweds in Indianapolis, Indiana, called attention to marriage inequality on the day of their own legally recognized wedding by reserving the first dance for same-sex couples.
Three LGBT couples will get the chance to win, but you have to enter by tomorrow!
The much anticipated season three of Hot in Cleveland returned to TV Land on Wednesday night and viewers were treated to a newly married Joy (Jane Leeves) and Victoria (Wendie Malick), Victoria, the “the lesbian thespian” being offered a guest spot on the new fictional View-esque show The Chatter, and lots of Kathie Lee Gifford in between.
Thanks to a legal loophole, Stephanie Nicot (left) has wed her female partner, Elise, in France's first state-sanctioned same-sex marriage.
The photos were confiscated when they were developed.
Gay rights!!
At Facebook, change is all in the details. Social networking giant Facebook has added two new icons to denote same-sex married couples for LGBT users. Previously, being married on the Facebook Timeline was symbolized by a bride and groom icon. Now same-sex couples can choose either two brides or two grooms.
It’s been a big year for our favorite adorable docs Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) on Grey’s. As of last week, Calzona is about to walk down the aisle, but not without the usual ups and downs and drama of every Grey's episode. This week the hour begins with the betrothed seated at the dinner table with their mums, dads and the ever-present Mark.
This week, Bravo surprised viewers of The Fashion Show -- their not-quite-successful Project Runway replacement -- with a super gay challenge: create wedding looks for three same-gender couples. The drama and stress of the gay male couple was easily replaced by the joy shared between the two lesbian couples. Johanna and Andrea were having a 1950s event, with Johanna donning a doting housewife look while Andrea was the flashy dandy. Bridgette and Christina, meanwhile, wanted a simple but elegant beach affair, with clothing that reflected their personalities. Upon seeing their outfits all four women lit up, and the way they worked the runway was insanely fun.
More than 500 people have signed a petition calling for NBC's Today Show to include gay and lesbian couples in its "Modern Day Wedding Contest." The contest gives away a full-paid wedding, to be broadcast on the show in October, as well as an all-expense paid honeymoon. However, the show's producers said that it same-sex couples are not eligible to enter the contest because the wedding must legally take place in New York, a state that does extend legal marriage equality.
"I don't get paid to put up with harassment."
Lord Ivar Mountbatten married James Coyle this weekend, making royal history!
A lesbian couple was among the first gay couples to legally marry in Colombia.
