Forbes has released its 30 Under 30 list and a few queer women and allies are on it! The list is compiled from various sources including social media and entertainment industry insiders, according to Forbes.
Included on the list is Ellen Page, producer and actress, who came out on Valentine’s Day, 2014. Regarding the choice to include Page as one of its 30 Under 30 Forbes editors wrote, “In February, at a Human Rights Campaign event, Page told the world that she was tired of “lying by omission,” and came out as a gay woman.
Her announced garnered more support than criticism and instantly made Page a top-name in the gay-rights movement. A few month after the speech her latest movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past, became one of the biggest box office winners of 2014 earning $746 million at the global box office."
Also included on Forbes’ list is Hannah Hart, out YouTube star, author of My Drunk Kitchen, and co-creator of the comedy film Camp Takota.
Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany may have been snubbed by the Emmys and the Golden Globes, but Forbes recognizes her power playing more than half a dozen clones, including one queer one, on the break out sci-fi series.
