North Carolina’s anti-trans bathroom law is the next battle.
North Carolina governor Pat McCrory recently approved a law banning any local governments from passing non-discrimination ordinances, and mandating that North Carolina residents must use the bathroom that corresponds with the sex stated on their birth certificates. The law puts transgender residents in danger. A 2013 Williams Institute survey found that 68 percent of transgender people experienced verbal harassment in a public restroom, while 9 percent experienced physical assault.
