Lick Ellen DeGeneres and Joan Jett for a Cause Thanks to PETA and the US Postal Service

Lick Ellen DeGeneres and Joan Jett for a Cause Thanks to PETA and the US Postal Service

Just in time for the busiest time of the year for the post office, PETA has launched a limited-edition set of postage stamps featuring 20 famous vegetarians throughout history – from Pythagoras to Pamela Anderson.

The stamps are now available for purchase for $19.99 per sheet. For that price, you’ll have the coolest postage on your various holiday card mailings, and by purchasing the PETA stamps you’re helping lick animal abuse in the process.

Other meat eschewing celebrities featured on the stamps include Ellen DeGeneres and rocker Joan Jett. While we are going to assume the postage from PETA is self-adhesive, let’s pretend it’s the good ole fashioned lickable kind and tell you this is your chance to use your tongue on Ellen and Joan – all for a good cause!

Other than Ellen and Joan, today’s most popular meat-free celebs with their face on the stamps include musicians Paul McCartney, Morrissey, Chrissie Hynde, Bryan Adams, Leona Lewis and hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, actors Woody Harrelson, Natalie Portman, Pamela Anderson, Jackass star Steve-O and The Price Is Right host Bob Barker. Famous vegetarian faces from the past include historical figures like Gandhi, César Chávez, Leonardo da Vinci, Leo Tolstoy, Albert Schweitzer, Pythagoras and Johnny Appleseed.

The stamps will only be available through December, possibly into January, so stop by PETA’s online store and grab yours before they are gone. PETA hopes to show that many cultural icons from around the world have been steering clear of meat for ages by releasing the series, which also comes with statements from celebrities on why they decided to say no to meat (pick your own pun for that one).
