Samantha Ronson has stepped out from behind the DJ booth to record and release her self-produced debut album, Chasing The Reds.

Ronson spent almost ten years cultivating the notes and journal entries that would be the basis for the personal album, with songs exploring heartbreak, press and media attention, and the all out fun of rock and roll. Ronson has also enlisted the contribution of a few famous friends who laid down tracks for the album including rocker Slash on “Love Song”, rapper Wale on “Summer of Sam”, Alex Greenwald on “Captain Jack” and her brother, UK superstar Mark Ronson to co-produced the ratatat party jam “Skyscrapers”.

Ronson’s musical journey began at a young age, exposed to recording studios by her stepfather Mick (Foreigner guitarist and founder), which she still remembers fondly. Just when a false start resulted in a never released album with Roc-a-fella Records in 2004, Samantha’s DJ career began to heat up.

“I began to DJ mainly so I could pay for my band, then I got really busy DJing and didn’t have time [for making music].” She finally returned to songwriting and the result is her inspired new album’s title: “It’s about chasing after something you’re never going to get. Whatever your thing that you’re chasing is, is what the red is.”
