Rosie O’Donnell informed her followers on Twitter that she is selling her art on Etsy.com, and plans to match all proceeds to benefit the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation (DTRF), AfterEllen reported.
In August, O’Donnell revealed on her blog that she would have to postpone her marriage to fiancée Michelle Rounds, after Rounds was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive, non-cancerous condition called fibromatoses, otherwise known as Desmoid tumors.
She wrote;
desmoid tumors
odd and curious beasts
strong and sneaky
a non cancer that acts cancerous
only 900 cases a year in the US
an orphan disease – beyond rare
only 3 people per million get this
michelle is one of them
she is recovering from surgery in june
getting stronger every day
we have joined the fight against this disease
raising money and awareness
we had to postpone our wedding
re scheduled for next summer
in lieu of gifts -
we ask for donations
O’Donnell is certainly using her star power to raise awareness for the disease. In addition to the art sale, she and Rounds plan to participate in the 3rd Annual DTRF Running for Answers 5K in October, and O’Donnell recently joined the foundation’s Board of Directors. Rounds recently took over the position of Fundraising Chair for DTRF.
