This has been a good week for Anne Hathaway. First she created a role for herself as Kurt’s lesbian aunt on Glee and now she has landed one of the most sought after roles since the American Lisbeth Salander was cast. Anne joins a long list of ladies who’ve played Catwoman now that she’s won the role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, starring Christian Bale, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Among the actresses who’ve recently tested for the role were Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley, Kate Mara and Gemma Arterton, according to Heat Vision.

While Anne is definitely nabbed the female lead in the next Batman installment, Nolan has been loathe to call the character Catwoman, in keeping with his vision of a more grounded approach to the Batman series, according to THR.

Anne joins Halle Berry, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eartha Kitt, Lee Merriwether and Julie Newmar as women who’ve inhabited the cat in the Batman series.

Congrats to Anne. We know she’ll be just purrfect… (Cheesy, we know).
