CNN is bandying about big-time gay rights supporter and The View funny lady Joy Behar's name in talks of who will replace Larry King, who just announced his retirement from his primetime talk show on Tuesday.
Behar’s talk show on HLN –formerly known as CNN Headline News and CNN2 – is the strongest internal candidate in talks to replace King, according to Deadline Hollywood.
In addition to her longstanding co-host position on The View, Behar’s self-titled talk show has continually pulled in strong ratings, making it one of CNN’s most reliable ratings’ grabbers.
However, King is not pulling for Behar, as he supports America Idol host and all-around gadfly Ryan Seacrest as his successor.
"If he has a great interest in politics, I would recommend him. But I'm sure there's a ton of people who could do it. Come on, it's Q&A,” King said.
America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan and CBS Evening News host Katie Couric’s names were also tossed into the ring.
