BBC’s 'Prime Suspect' Revamped for NYPD, Starring Maria Bello: Trailer

The BBC's Hit crime series Prime Suspect has been adapted for US audiences, featuring the crime fighting cases of New York’s finest.

With the NY setting comes the American version of Helen Mirren’s character, Jane Tennison, to get the job done. Played by Maria Bello, Jane Timoney is a tough broad trying to make it in a male-dominated precinct in New York’s homicide division. We’ve seen Bello in some bas-ass roles such as bar owner Lil in Coyote Ugly and Dr. Ana Del Amico on ER, but she has some big shoes to fill with this one.

Mirren, the lead actress of the original UK series, has many accolades and tons of experience including BAFTA TV’s Best Actress award three years in a row for Prime Suspect 1, 2 and 3. Prime Suspect first aired in the UK in the early 90’s and went on to win multiple awards and honors including one of Time magazine’s top “100 Best TV Shows of All Time.”
