Current TV asked Alonso Duralde, a man who's literally written a book on gay cinema, to do a little lesson on the history of lesbians in film in three minutes or less (which isn't hard to do since we are so underepresented in the mainstream). Duralde explains how indie movies like 1985's Desert Hearts eventually expanded the portrayal of lesbian characters in American movies beyond double-crossing, homicidal vampires.
