New 'Charlie's Angels' Pilot Greenlit for ABC

Back in Hollywood, land of the simulacrum, where there are no new ideas, ABC has ordered a pilot for a Charlie’s Angels redux, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot is a remake of the seventies hit show for which the respectful term “jiggle TV” was coined. Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett were the original angels, although several other angels joined the team throughout the show’s run, including Cheryl Ladd, who joined the show’s second season and stayed through the run of the series.

Back in Hollywood, land of the simulacrum, where there are no new ideas, ABC has ordered a pilot for a Charlie’s Angels redux, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The pilot is a remake of the 70's hit show for which the respectful term “jiggle TV” was coined. Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and Farrah Fawcett were the original angels, although several other angels joined the team throughout the show’s run, including Cheryl Ladd, who joined the show’s second season and stayed through the run of the series.

The series about sexy undercover detectives that answer only to a voice on a phone got a big screen makeover with Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Dias filling the angels’ running pumps.

Barrymore, who also produced the film and its sequel will produce the pilot with Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Juvonen and writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

So who should we cast as the angels? With former L Word-ers including Sarah Shahi, Rose Rollins and Sarah Shahi landing small-screen work, I vote for Leisha Hailey to take a turn as an angel.
