SheWired's Shot of the Day: Kate Moennig in 'L Word' Ink on 'Dexter'

There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don't under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value. Today we bring you Kate Moennig L Word Inked on Dexter. That’s right. The actress who embodied Shane, the lovable lesbian lothario on The L Word for six seasons made a cameo on Sunday’s Dexter and even flirted with Dexter’s sis, Jennifer Carpenter's foul-mouthed Deb.

There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don't under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value. Well, we at SheWired have made an executive decision to just throw any of our pseudo-feminist caution to the wind and to just post our fave shot of the day, whether it be sexy, salacious, or just because...

Today we bring you Kate Moennig in L Word Ink on Dexter. That’s right. The actress who embodied Shane, the lovable lesbian lothario on The L Wordfor six seasons made a cameo on Sunday’s Dexter and even flirted with Dexter’s sis, Jennifer Carpenter's foul-mouthed Deb a tad. It's about high time Dexter had some sort of gay storyline five seasons in to its run! This is Showtime after all!

Kate’s imdb page has been looking a little sparse since her post-L Word steady gig Three Rivers was canned just a few episodes into its kick-off season, so it’s good to see Kate back in the saddle playing Michael Angelo, a tattoo artist who's a minor twist on Shane. Think Shane, inked up, very slightly more feminine and with a tinge more of that spacy, ethereal, philosophical thing Shane occasionally exhibited.

As for how Kate fits into Dex -- when Detective Deb Morgan needs advice from a tattoo artist to help solve a case, her tatted coworker Masuka refers her to Michael Angelo for insight. And capitalizing on that Shane sex appeal, Dexter’s writers give Michael Angelo and Deb a lingering handhold.  So much for range! But here’s hoping Kate’s guest spot turns into a multi-episode arc. It’s about time Deb dropped the serial killers, cops, informants and g-men she’s been dating and hooked up with a girl!

And just try to ignore the "It's definitely an eye," line... bad, bad, writing.
