So You Think You Can Dance Runner-Up Danny Tidwell Has Died
So You Think You Can Dance runner-up Danny Tidwell has died from injuries sustained in a car crash on Friday.
News of his death was shared publicly by his brother, Travis Wall, in an Instagram post on Saturday morning.
“My heart is broken. Yesterday I lost a brother. And we all lost a gift,” he wrote. “You were more than my brother. You were my inspiration.”
Tidwell blew everyone away during the third season of So You Think You Can Dance, proving his talent over and over again, in all styles. He ultimately finished second to Sabra Johnson, but continued dancing professionally, performing on Dancing with the Stars, on Broadway, and with Norway’s National Ballet.
Tidwell married journalist David Benaym in 2014, and Benaym also paid tribute to his late husband on Saturday.
“We were so lucky to have him, life was so challenging for him. But he was a warrior, and he came back standing, always,” he wrote. “We loved each other so much, he was and always will be family.”
