Why Scream Queens is This Gay Man's Dream

The season finale of FOX's breakout new show Scream Queens is fastly approaching, and although we are very, very, VERY excited (anxious) to finally find out who the mysterious Red Devil serial killer is, it's also kind of a bummer to realize that the first season of such a fun, campy, and totally hilarious show is coming to an end.

While there are plenty of reasons as to why the show absolutely slayed, here are some of the standouts that, for this gay man, made Scream Queens absolutely *everything.*

The wardrobe

You're completely lying to yourself if after the first episode, you didn't immediately didn't want to go out and buy a fur coat and anything that comes in pastel colors. (Baby pink and Tiffany blue for the win!)

The one-liners

Every single thing HBIC Chanel Oberlin (played flawlessly by Emma Roberts) says is literally the funniest thing ever, and just when you think it couldn't get any better, she says something else that cracks you up!

The strong female leads

And speaking of Chanel, we can't get over how this show is literally all about strong, albeit flawed, women trying (keyword trying) to band together to find out who the heck is killing off their Kappa sisters.

Zayday (Keke Palmer) and Grace (Skyler Samuels) exemplify what a friendship should be, and Dean Munsch (portrayed by the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis) shows how a boss handles things (even if people think she's the one behind the murders).

The men

Yes, this show is all about the fierce ladies, but it doesn't hurt that the men of Scream Queens, namely Boone (Nick Jonas), Earl (Lucien Laviscount), and Chad (Glen Powell), are decent to look at. No complaints here.

The sheer queerness of it all!

While most of the queer storylines in Scream Queens were more humorous (and borderline problematic) than serious (i.e. Boone pretending to be gay and Predatory Lez dying way too soon in the season), it's nice that more LGBT characters and narratives are starting to make it in the mainstream.

Plus, the scene where Dean Munsch fought a murderer dressed up as antigay Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia and defending gay marriage was GOLD.
