Most of us are familiar with the usual LOLs and OMGs of texting, but The Dinah requires some special messages and techniques. Why?

• You're surrounded by a mob of people and can't hear to make a phone call. Texting is a must.

• You need to communicate with friends but don't want to miss seeing any of the music or comedy acts, or a hot single lady walking by.

• Everyone around you is probably drunk so you have to text while paying enough attention to avoid having a beer accidentally spilled down your back.

• You're probably drunk, too.

That means you need your texts to be fast and easy to understand. Fortunately, we've compiled some abbreviations that will let you communicate quickly and help you get right back to the party.

SOS – Your simple safe word to let friends know to call you ASAP.

HG – Hot Girl. As in, you just found one.

HG4U – Hot Girl for You. Because good friends watch out for their fellow lezzies.

HGL or HGR – Hot Girl (on your) Left or Right. If you want your friend to see that nearby hottie, but you don’t want that hottie to know.

JGS – Just Got Some. The “some” is open to interpretation.

DND – Do Not Disturb. In case you’re sharing a hotel room, car, etc.

UOK? – You Okay? When you see your friend with some random girl, and you think she’s giving you crazy “Save me!” eyes from across the bar, but you can’t be sure.

U? – Where Are You?

B – I’m Busy. 

RtR – Ready to Roll. Use a period if you're telling her (RtR.) or a question mark if you're asking (RtR?).

EAT – I’m Hungry. In general, or for food.

ToY – Thinking of You. We become sentimental when we’re drunk. This, with a photo of the crazy antics you've been up to, is what you send to friends who couldn’t make down to The Dinah to party with you.
