Tomboys & Turkey: 3 Looks for Your Thanksgiving Dinner
Three looks for your holiday meal.
It's almost time for Thanksgiving and people everywhere are gearing up to gather with friends, family, and the third most best category; framily (friends who are family).
Obviously the main event is the meal and the alcohol, but don't wait until after the last marshmallow has kissed the sweet potato, or the last spice has mulled the cider to figure out what you'll be wearing. Let's talk about Tomboy outfit options wear to The Meal. After all it is thanksgiving, so maybe try to wear something to the table besides sweatpants (but lets not rule these out entirely). We here at SheWired have put together 3 different types of dress-up suggestions that will keep you looking good as well as comfortable.
LOOK 1: Relaxed but Presentable
Turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, oh my! Lucky for all of us, elastic waist bands are completely in style right now. Popular name brands everywhere including Zanerobe and Cotton On are featuring these as cutting edge style. I don't know about you but especially on Thanksgiving I am thankful for this fad. These pants will allow you to eat a little extra at The Meal without losing style points.
After you've picked out your favorite pair of elastic waisted jeans, Uniqlo has awesome men's crisp white undershirts, thicker than the average undershirt which is just enough to do the job to have a clean appearance with minimal effort. Better yet, they're mostly under ten bucks.
And even though we are excited for Christmas, fall is still here. A fall flannel with rustic colors is still the perfect addition to this outfit. Pair with Toms or a low cut boot.

LOOK 2: The Dress Up But Keepin It Casual
I prefer a skinny pair of khaki pants to the traditional cut, and I also like a pant with a touch of detail. You don't have to sacrifice form for function.

Pair any clean cut khaki's with an oxford shirt. Uniqlo has wonderful oxford slim fit shirts that look like a million bucks yet cost less than 10 dollars.
Add a lambswool v-neck sweater on top, to create a casual and upscale look.
Pair with a wingtip shoe, or a dark brown boot, and people will think you put a ton of effort into what really is a breezy, upscale casual look. Your relatives may call you Ellen, so watch out.

LOOK 3: The Dress Up with Comfort
A woven gray pant is a dressy look. Combine it with the sensibility of a cuff and a loose waistband and you have a dressy pant + sweatpant for Thanksgiving day. Nothing is better for the occasion.
Pair any woven gray pant with a white, crisp dress dress shirt like this one from Eton Clothing.
What would thanksgiving be without a little Fall plaid. Sneak it in with a plaid skinny tie.
Lastly, finish your look with a dark oversized navy blazer, like the Illusionist from Wildfang.

No matter what you decide to wear, the most important tip I've read so far is this. Remember to plan for at least one bottle of wine per person in your dinner party. This will assure you won't run out on your special night.
Happy Thanksgiving!
