South African runner Caster Semenya has been cleared to compete again after an international dispute over her biological gender following a major win at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin. The International Association of Athletics Federations cleared Semenya, 19, to compete after an 11-month hiatus while she underwent gender testing. The results of the tests will remain confidential.

The International Association of Athletics Federations cleared Semenya, 19, to compete after an 11-month hiatus while she underwent gender testing. The results of the tests will remain confidential, according to the Associated Press.
"I am thrilled to enter the global athletics arena once again and look forward to competing with all the disputes behind me," Semenya said in a statement.
Semenya may be eligible to compete as soon as July 19 at the World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada. Richard Stander of Athletics South Africa said she would be considered for the national team, pending a fitness test on Wednesday.
