'Learn the Words, Bitch!' Is Silver Lake's Premier Lip Sync Competition

Who doesn't want to take the stage, death drop, and pour your heart out into a rendition of Madonna's "Vogue" or Céline's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now?" Following in Mama Ru’s tradition, LA-based lip sync competition "Learn The Words, Bitch!" is a monthly event held at Silver Lake’s favorite gay bar, Akbar.

Created by Tony Soto & Adam Silver, the night long festivity showcases the talents of regulars, long-time patrons, celebrity queens, and newcomers as they all flaunt their skills and slay the house down. It's a safe space for creativity, fun, and one of the best nights out you can experience in the city of angels.

"We created "Learn the Words, Bitch!" to give Silver Lake a community-based monthly event for every range of lip sync artist," said creator Tony Soto. "The people who come to this party are family. We are inclusive and encouraging. Anyone can show up and perform, so it’s a chance for first time queens to perform alongside veterans, stars local character actresses, and other east side weirdos. It’s often messy, and we like that."

With the August lip sync crown distributed, the founders are already gearing up for their next battle royale on September 4th. For those who are interested in participating, LTWB is held the first Monday of every month at Akbar in Silver Lake.
