Tired of the same old dating apps?

A new dating app launched that is LGBTQ inclusive. OneGoodCrush is from the creators of OneGoodLove, a gay and lesbian dating app that is meant to be inclusive of gender and sexuality.

OneGoodCrush bills itself as “uniquely non-discriminatory and tailors the user’s dating experience based on gender identity, sexual orientation, and the gender or genders the user is seeking.”

As a bisexual, Tinder is the only app that allows me to be bisexual. On Tinder, I can search for men and women (though no gender variant individuals). While Tinder is an app inclusive of gays, lesbians and bisexuals, it hasn't included transgender individuals. Many trans users are kicked off for “violating community standards” when transphobic users report their profiles.

OneGoodCrush is aiming to be inclusive of fluid sexuality and genders. Although, it only offers five gender markers, which is slightly better than the binary gender options in traditional applications. OneGoodCrush allows users to identify as “man, woman, transgender man, transgender woman, and queer.” The queer option should really be genderqueer as queer can also reference sexuality. Admittedly, that option does serve as a catch all for individuals who don’t fall in trans binaries.

The app is easy to use. You swipe left or right (à la Tinder format) and if you match you’ll “crush” on that person. If you have the big bucks, you can pay for VIP status and send “flirt” messages to a crush before they even crush on you.

On their website, OneGoodCrush emphasizes their app is meant for queer individuals who are looking for serious relationships. This emphasis is a refreshing change from the various other apps that people use almost exclusively for hooking up.

“Our focus is on serious dating and real relationships. If you are looking for a hook-up, a quickie, or somebody to casually date – this app is not for you,” says their website.

I gave the app a whirl and so far no matches. Not because there are no options, almost 20k individuals signed up during the beta process. Perhaps, I have standards that make me “uncrushable” on any app. Still, I see potential (and there should be considering co-founder of Match.com fronted half of a million for the production of this app).

This may be the first app of its kind to include male and female identified queer individuals marketed specifically to LGBTs. Most apps separate genders, which takes double the app downloads for bisexual, pansexual, and queer individuals. Just from the few days I’ve had this app, I think it could be one of the best options for the LGBT community.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I’m crushing on OneGoodCrush.
