Being raised on Saturday Night Live was a total bragging right for a '90s kid like me, and no matter what anyone says, SNL will always be an important pop culture phenomena.
As the years have gone on, dozens of characters and sketches have made their own iconic status, but our personal faves are all the LGBT characters SNL has churned out.
1. All of the Stefon sketches.
Who doesn’t love Stefon’s comments about the New York social scene, holidays, and his talk about his current crushes on Weekend Update on Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler?
2. It's Pat
We'll never know the gender of Pat, but we don't need to because that's gender fluidity, folks.
3. Super Fun Mango!
Nobody will ever forget Chris Kattan’s Mango, clad with glitter shorts and a sequined beret.
4. The Dyke & Fats Intro
Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant play cops from the ‘70s in Chicago in this loveable skit.
Back when SNL had TV Funhouse, this memorable sketch was voiced by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carrell.
The best ‘90s television commercial that never actually existed.
7. Gay Couple From Maine on Weekend Update
Because fisherman sweaters, beanies and fishing bibs are the best gay couple uniform we’ve ever seen.
