Lil Nas X Just Revealed His Album Art & It Is Ethereally Gay

And it's inspired by a Spongebob meme and the Bible...

Secure your wigs, Lil Nas X is coming!

The "Industry Baby" rapper's debut album is nigh, and X took to social media this morning to share the heavenly album art.

X shared two distinct inspirations behind the art on Twitter, one citing the book of Genesis in the bible. “Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.” The other was a Spongebob meme.

X is no stranger to evoking memes, or Christian imagery, in his art. He was in hot water earlier this year after twerking on the devil in the controversial music video for "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)". True to his internet troll beginnings, he's clearly taken that up a notch here.

Over on TikTok, you can hear a snippet of X's new song, "That's What I Want," in X's announcement.

@lilnasx

i don’t think i’m allowed to post the full art on tik tok

The excitement is building, and more is coming! The superstar will reveal the tracklist tomorrow!

Montero, Lil Nas X's debut album, is due September 17th.
